What is the west coast look?
You decide, in our special series looking at five areas of home decor
When it comes to our residential design, what typifies the West Coast look?
Architecturally, many of the spaces we call home are often designed to reflect the places around us — perhaps by ensuring they take advantage of an ocean or mountain outlook.
But what of the objects and the decor within our homes: is any one style more “West Coast” than another?
That’s a question we hope you’ll help us to answer over the next five weeks right here in Westcoast Homes.
As part of a five-week series called the West Coast Look, we’ve partnered with five local retailers — The Other Room, Sandy’s Furniture, Home Couture, BoConcept and La-Z-Boy — to explore five areas of home decor. From among their offerings each week, we’re hoping you’ll vote on the products that best represent West Coast living to you.
While each retailer is decidedly different, each stocks the same type of products: sofas, chairs, tables, beds and accent pieces or accessories.
This week, we’re presenting a different sofa from each retailer, resulting in a range of styles from sleek and sophisticated to cosy and casual. Which do you think best represents the West Coast Look as you define it?
Consider your options and then go to a special website — westcoastlook.com — and vote for your favourite “West Coast Look.” While you’re on the voting site, you can opt to enter a draw for a chance to win a $2,000 gift certificate to be used at any one of the participating retailers. One winner will be selected at random from all entries received after the voting closes at the end of the five weeks.
The voting for ‘sofas’ is open from today through Wednesday at noon.
In next week’s Province, we’ll tell you which sofa fetched the highest number of votes, and introduce you to five interesting chairs, one of which we hope you think has that West Coast look.
Remember, it’s up to each of us when it comes to interior style, so vote today and check back to see if your favourite piece comes out on top.
