Arsonist at Vancouver Centre Mall
Vancouver Police Arson Unit investigators are requesting help from the public to identify a male suspect who is believed to have started a fire at Vancouver Centre Mall.
On April 19, at around noon, a patron alerted maintenance staff that a fire had broken out in the men’s washroom stall located in the restroom near the entrance to the Canada Line SkyTrain station.
Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services quickly responded to put out the fire which was started in one of the washroom stalls with a large quantity of toilet paper being ignited.
About $5,000 in damage was incurred due to water suppression and the fire damage to the washroom stall and paper dispenser.
The suspect is described as being an Asian male in his late 30s to late 40s, clean shaven, wearing a green toned baseball cap and jacket, black pants, white running shoes, carrying a black umbrella and a red eco bag. The suspect also carried a black backpack over his left shoulder.
Photographs of the suspect were obtained from CCTV security cameras. The suspect remains unidentified and outstanding.
