THE THREE KEYS

-

Rock and roll a winning formula

B.C. offence rocked for the first time this season partly because Travis Lulay was on the roll — as in moving out of the pocket. The result should be enough to convince the Lions there’s major benefits to having a quarterback on the move. Lulay’s early shots to Emmanuel Arceneaux opened the rest of the field, and by the end Andrew Harris was effective. Hamilton had reasonable blitz pressure and figures to turn it up more Saturday.

Smilin’ Hank’s still deadly

Henry Burris was also effective behind centre for Hamilton, and the Lions know there’s no way they can shut down all the Ticats’ offensive options. Burris got going with a terrific back-shoulder throw to Bakari Grant last week and eventually opened up for 352 passing yards, with Greg Ellingson (eight catches, 94 yards, TD) leading the way. An officiating break or two and the Ticats might already have a share of the East Division lead.

Haven’t we seen that before?

More than anything, however, the second half of a series will be about adjustments, as the Lions are of an opinion that Ticats coach/GM Kent Austin will make major adjustments. B.C. won’t stand pat either though. The Lions had a nice cat-and-mouse game going last week on special teams trying to get Hamilton to kick to KR Tim Brown, who didn’t disappoint when he got his hands on the ball. Familiarity could breed a little trickery.
