Fifty Shades of Grey in Vancouver

Recently a number of big-name production­s have left the city for other more cost-effective filming locations. However, filmmakers have just announced that Fifty Shades of Grey will be filmed in Vancouver this November. The cast includes Dakota Johnson in the role of Anastasia Steele and Charlie Hunnam as Christian Grey in the movie adaptation of the E.L. James erotic bestseller of the same name.

Drake’s Vancouver concert reschedule­d

Drake fans will have to wait a bit longer to see the artist in action as the concert has been reschedule­d to Nov. 28. A recent change around the launch date for his new album, Nothing Was The Same, is why Drake has reschedule­d the Vancouver date on his upcoming North American tour, Would You Like A Tour? Drake was originally scheduled for Sept. 27. All tickets for the initially scheduled show will be honoured for the new date.

Fringe Fest kicks off

The Vancouver Fringe is a celebratio­n of theatre for everyone, featuring more than 800 performanc­es by 98 artists over 11 days from Sept. 5 to 15. The Fringe employs an “everyone welcome” selection technique — the Mainstage shows are literally drawn out of a hat, giving all artists a chance to participat­e. The Vancouver Fringe also features unique site-specific theatre where artists stage their work in the nooks and crannies of Granville Island, as part of the Fringe Onsite Program.
