Language not a cover

In his article, Dr. Henry Yu had the advantage of understanding what they were saying (in Cantonese), so he cannot see through the eyes of those he was judging.

To me, integration is not using your language as a cover — it is being open and making the effort to speak in the language of your new abode so that all those around you understand.

It will get easier with time, and it will avoid infuriating those around you — such a small price to pay.
