A Gun In Each Hand
Neither violent or in any way a thriller, director Cesc Gay crafts a truly different kind of cinematic testosterone in this comedy. Featuring a stacked cast of Latin American leading men, including the marvellous Ricardo Darin, Luis Tosar, Javier Camara and Eduardo Noriega, the story charts a series of random encounters between seldom seen old friends, ex-spouses, lovers and the women who are the puppet masters behind every scene. The crisp dialogue, all-too-real situations and baring of what really goes on behind that macho Latin exterior makes for some mercilessly funny situations. As much a statement on the changing gender roles in Spain and the larger picture of an aging population and where it’s taking traditional male roles. Apparently, we really are still baby boys.
