Gore Vidal: The United States of Amnesia

This documentary on intellectual Gore Vidal gets an added screening Friday. Director Nicholas Wrathall interviewed Vidal before his death last year, and also talked to David Mamet, Tim Robbins and Christopher Hitchens about Vidal’s decades-long influence on American arts, letters and politics. From growing up a scion of one of America’s storied patrician families, to his screenplay to Ben-Hur, his legendary feud with Norman Mailer and his twilight years lobbing barbs at his homeland from new dig sin Italy, Gore was never boring.
