Coquitlam man sentenced to 45 days for performing illegal dentistry

A Coquitlam man who performed illegal dentistry in his basement was sentenced Wednesday to 45 days in jail and ordered to pay $35,000 to the College of Dental Surgeons of B.C.

Vladimir Shapoval appeared in B.C. Supreme Court in Vancouver after he was found to have breached court orders not to continue providing the services. The dental college became aware of Shapoval in 2006. Last year, his file was reviewed following an investigation into Tung Sheng Wu, who was sentenced to three months in a similar case in Burnaby.
