Collins’ jersey among highest sellers for NBA store

NEWYORK — Jason Collins’ No. 98 jersey has four of the top five selling jersey items on NBAStore.com.

Collins donned his No. 98 for the first time on Wednesday in Portland.

He entered the game without fan reaction and played a pair of scoreless stretches in the fourth quarter.

Brooklyn also failed to react much against the home squad as the Trail Blazers went on to rout the Nets 124-80. Collins’ home and road replica jerseys, the women’s replica road jersey and the men’s T-shirt with the number on it were tops in their categories. Collins’ items were No. 1 in those four categories. A LeBron James item led the fifth category.

Collins wore No. 46 on Sunday against the Los Angeles Lakers because his preferred number wasn’t available yet.

Collins picked No. 98 in tribute to Matthew Shepard, who was killed in 1998 in a hate crime.
