Caps fans to Camilo: karma sucks, eh?

-

Twitter was full of karma comments on Friday as word spread that Whitecaps starturned-villain Camilo Sanvezzo wasn’t being paid by his Mexican club.

Turns out Queretaro FC’s owner, Amado Yàñez, is in a spot of trouble with the government. The players haven’t seen a cheque in six weeks.

Univision Deportes reported that Queretaro might even be at risk of being booted out of Liga MX.

Whitecaps officials say there’s no concern over the payment of a“multimillion-dollar” transfer fee they claimed for the 22-goal scorer in midJanuary.

A senior MLS official didn’t respond to the same question from The Province, nor the question of Camilo’s MLS rights.

If the Caps haven’t spent the money they say they’ve received — or will receive — for Camilo, his MLS rights should remain with them, although in this league, who really knows?

By FIFA rules, if Queretaro can’t make the agreed payments, Camilo’s rights revert to Vancouver.

So, we took to Twitter to ask the ultimate hypothetical question: What if Camilo wanted to bring his Braziliance back to B.C.? Forget management for a second. Would fans take him back?

@ThatsTheVoice

YES! He can have a job @bcplace, selling peanuts at my seat. Guess my answer really is NO.

@WillCromack

No chance. But get decent money back in a normal transfer environment.

@randomjames

Personal apologies to all season ticket holders — individually. It’s a long road back.

@cf23barca

better question is would his ex-mates want him in the room? There is no I in team but there is in “Camilo”

@crw_

I think I could stomach it.

@haalass777

I think we’d all be surprised by how quickly fans would forgive if not forget. Goals will do that.

@ThiKuBC

no. But trade him to Montreal so he can still try and play for Canada!
