The Province

An exciting year of change for The Province

- Kindest regards Wayne Moriarty Editor

Dear Readers,

There are exciting changes coming to The Province this year — some modest, some dramatic.

The first change happens Sunday, Feb. 1, when that edition of your paper is printed at a new press facility with colour capabilities on every page, every day.

Along with this new and vibrant look, we will also be changing how we present our content. For loyal readers of The Province, the most obvious difference will be the elimination of pullout sections Monday to Friday. The new weekday Province will run straight through, like a magazine or a book.

This change gives us much more flexibility for news of the day — be it local news, entertainment or sports. We will be able to expand our space, as needed, to give readers a more comprehensive package of information, either at the front of the paper, the middle or the back.

Simply put, when something significant happens, we can react in a bigger and better way than ever before.

Sunday will be slightly different experience from Monday to Friday, as readers of our premium edition will have a main section, complete with robust news, sports and auto coverage, while a pre-printed secondary section will include lifestyles, entertainment, comics, puzzles, travel and more.

I plan to remind readers of the switch to our new press facility a couple times before the switch happens. If you have any questions or concerns, I would love to hear from you at wmoriarty@theprovince.com.

As for the dramatic changes coming to The Province and theprovince. com this year, expect to see redesigns in print and digital. There is so much to come in 2015 for The Province. It will be a thrill to keep everyone informed along the way.
