Why is there free heroin but no help for diabetics?

-

Many people likely would want to know why the provincial health-care system, which is funded by B.C. taxpayers, will not fund a life-saving insulin pump for Lasqueti Island resident Graham Allan, but will supply free heroin and needles for junkies.

To Premier Christy Clark from all the diabetics in B.C., thanks for the care we are getting from your government.

Executions send a message

Finally, a country is sending a clear message to narcotics traffickers. You will be executed for your actions if found guilty.

Someone called Indonesia’s execution by firing squad of six drug dealers “cruel and inhumane punishment.” What about all of the lives these drug traffickers have ruined with their greed and pursuit of money?

We need to take an approach like this here and send out a clear message.

Canadians should make peace

In response to those Palestinian protesters who threw eggs at Canada’s foreign minister while he was visiting the West Bank, I would like to say the following: Je ne suis pas John Baird. Je suis Canadian.

Abraham Lincoln said, “I destroy my enemies when I make them my friends.” Most Canadians would agree that Canada could be contributing more to world peace if the Tories would quietly build diplomatic bridges rather than by dropping so-called smart bombs and making dumb jingoistic remarks.

Sticks and stones ...

What’s the problem with all these angry people around the world, with their tiresome mantra of “death to the infidels.”

Are their lives so bleak that they are unable to occasionally laugh at themselves or are they just too ignorant to appreciate the wisdom of the old western saying, “sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me?”

Haters gonna hate

I absolutely agree with Licia Corbella’s take on the situation with the Dalhousie University dentistry students. Finally, someone who makes sense and doesn’t hold a grudge against men, particularly white men.

We seem to be a minority.

Put out to pasture

Dan Fumano’s report regarding a doctor’s decision as to who deserves rehabilitation struck a chord. The person in this story was determined, by the doctor, to be too fat to help, a waste of time and facilities.

Doctors also determine who is too old to help. I was told twice while receiving minimal care at a hospital that if I was 20 years younger they would be operating on me.

I now know that I am too old to be repaired and that, basically, I am on my own even though I could easily live another 20 years or more.

My advice to all is, stay slim and lie about your age or suffer the consequences. You can’t win against the gods of the medical profession.

Wolf cull is sickening

I am sickened by Victoria’s decision to kill wolves by shooting them from helicopters and poisoning them. I am ashamed to be a Canadian led by such incredible inept leaders.

Wolves are important for the health of ungulate herds by killing weak and dying animals, which strengthens the entire population.

I’d like to know how the hunters and helicopter pilots involved in the cull will feel after being involved with it.

Even the Americans are light years ahead on the science and preservation of wolves, after they killed them nearly to extinction.
