Toddler’s parents say no foul play involved

-

The parents of a Surrey toddler whose death is being probed by homicide detectives said there was no foul play involved in their daughter’s death.

The three-year-old, identified in media reports as Charlee Johanson, died Saturday, three days after she was taken to hospital from a home in the 5800-block 182nd Street.

Her grieving parents told Global News that Charlee’s death was a tragic accident.

“She was my fearless little baby, she always wanted to do what the big kids can do,” said mom Jennifer Johanson.

Charlee’s parents said the girl fell Tuesday while standing on top of a laundry bin in the bathroom. She seemed fine until Wednesday when she experienced a seizure, and was taken to hospital where she died. Police are treating the death as suspicious.

Dad Cody Graham told Global News: “Neither of us would ever, ever touch Charlee. It’s really hard to be sitting here ... and be thought of as a childkiller.”

Johanson was in the news in May 2013 after she was captured on camera making racially charged comments to an animal-rights protester outside the Cloverdale Rodeo.
