Cost, slow play, hurts golf

- Greg Block, Surrey

I golf two or three times a month. The two major problems with golf in the Lower Mainland are the cost and pace of play. I mostly golf in the fall, winter and spring, when fees are reasonable.

For pace of play, most courses can be done in 3.5 hours, but rounds can take 4.5 to five hours. They pack the courses and don’t allow for groups to spread out after the first hole. Most courses have marshals roaming around, but I find they don’t do anything about the pace of play.
