Glorious Leader stretches credibility with bridge closure
So our Glorious Leader is going to close a major bridge on a busy Sunday just to show her subjects that she can?
Next she’ll be wearing elaborate military uniforms and erecting statues of herself.

Yoga Day will be great
The Burrard Street Bridge is shut down numerous times a year on Sundays for various events.
I went through Michael Smyth’s government-bashing article hoping to find a timetable for the event. I can’t wait to do yoga in a place with one of the city’s greatest views.
Roy Speers, Surrey
Close Arthur Laing, instead
A win/win solution for gaining international publicity on International Yoga Day would be to close the Arthur Laing Bridge to the airport. It would achieve the desired publicity results, access to downtown Vancouver wouldn’t be restricted and the only people to “possibly” be negatively affected by a bridge closure would be people flying out of Vancouver. Who cares about them? Our premier?
Doug Marsden, Vancouver
Real nerve to seek new tax
At a time when these idiot mayors are saying to give TransLink more money because we need to have better transit, they have $150,000 for one mayor to close bridges for yoga? I hope the only taxpayers paying this bill are Vancouverites since they are the clowns who re-elected Mayor Moonbeam. Premier Christy Clark was there only because she knew it was a photo-op.
Shawn Storey, Surrey
One can be right but foolish
Re: SlutWalk. Women are right to say that how they choose to dress does not “determine consent.” I say the same for men.
By choosing to wear a Rolex and flash a roll of cash during a nighttime stroll in Downtown Eastside back alleys definitely does not give anyone consent to beat and rob them. But the reality exists that how we dress communicates a message and that message will invariably be misinterpreted by predators, opportunists and unsophisticated thinkers.
Being right is little solace to the maimed and murdered.

Think of Fido
I feel that everyone should dress as they see fit, male or female.
Just remember, you do not want to scare the dog.

Letter was an attack ad
Lloyd Atkins’ letter to the editor Monday was telling. His whole letter was nothing more than badmouthing Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Tory government.
Atkins told us nothing about Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau’s policies, political record, promises or where the money would come from for Trudeau’s promises.
It appears Atkins has made up his own Liberal attack ad.
Hypocritical, don’t you think?
