Ideas for the innovative traveller
Travel-friendly shoes, a key to Victoria and a free Tahiti stay en route to New Zealand
The well-heeled traveller
TRAVEL GEAR — When it comes to packing for a trip, we shoe lovers may have good intentions of carrying on. But how do we shoehorn several pairs of our beloved footwear into that limited space?
What if you could just bring one pair — OK, maybe three — and change up the heels for a versatile look depending on where your travels take you?
Tanya Heath Paris, a Canadian company, has stylishly found a way. It designs an innovative and super chic collection of adjustable height shoes that can be worn with hundreds of heel styles — from stilettos to kitten.
How it works is as simple as an ingenious click of a button.
The spring/summer collection has just been launched.
Shoes, without the heels, start around $600.

Free stopover in Tahiti
TAHITI — Airline Air Tahiti Nui is offering a tantalizing stopover deal. Guests flying round trip to New Zealand get a free three-night stay in Tahiti. Flights included in the deal are from Los Angeles until June 22 and then again between Aug. 22 to March 31, 2016. (Some blackouts apply in mid-December.)
Flight prices start at around $1,150 per person (taxes included) and include a free stay at Le Meridien Tahiti or Manava Suite Resort in a beachfront room. A third country, Australia, can also be added for a fee.
Get a ‘key’ to the city
VICTORIA — British Columbia’s capital is beautiful any time of year, but in summer it’s particularly lovely: fish and chips at the inner harbour, pedalling around its cool neighbourhoods, sipping a local brew from Phillips on a waterfront patio. When the TD Victoria International Jazz Festival (June 19-28) is added to the mix, it just gets better.
If you’re looking for a place to stay that’s close to the action, check out Inn at Laurel Point. The oceanfront property located downtown is offering a Key to the City. It gives guests discounts on a long list of activities, attractions and shops around Victoria. Some of the deals include: 20 per cent off admission to the Royal BC Museum; 10 per cent off bike tours with The Pedaler that includes a free bike rental for the day of your tour; 25 per cent off admission to the Butterfly Gardens; and 20 per cent off locally made teas and skin and body care products at Silk Road Teas.
