EB III will go for EB IV

- — Steve Ewen

Earl Burl III is calling his shot. “If I have a son one day? It’s EB 4. That’s a done deal, ”the Vancouver Canadians centre-fielder said, promising to keep the family tradition of naming.

“My mom says that she was so close to not naming me Earl, because she didn’t want me to go through some of the teasing my dad went through. I did, but it’s all paid off. It’s an easy name to remember. Everyone loves it.”

And what if the mother of the child doesn’t want Earl as her son’s name?

“We’re getting it done,” Burl said. “Whatever we have to do, we’re doing it. Mercedes-Benz to drive? You want it? You’re getting one. “He’s getting named Earl Burl IV.” Dayn Perry, a writer at cbssports. com, ranked the top 25 names in this year’s major league draft and Burl came out on top, edging out Skye Bolt, Rock Rucker and Scooter Hightower, to name a few.

“That was awesome, ”Burl said.
