Kings terminate Richards’ contract

-

The Los Angeles Kings have terminated the contract of forward Mike Richards, while the Montreal Canadiens finished the buyout of P.A. Parenteau.

The Kings said in a statement Monday that they have “exercised the team’s right to terminate the contract of Mike Richards for a material breach of the requirements of his standard player’s contract.”

Richards had five years left on his contract.

The Canadiens bought out Parenteau after he cleared waivers.

Anaheim defenceman Mark Fistric also cleared waivers, while Buffalo forward Cody Hodgson and Nashville forward Viktor Stalberg were placed on unconditional waivers.
