2. Joey Votto, 1B, Cincinnati Reds (2) Hometown: Etobicoke, Ont. Recap: Had three RBI for the week; first runs driven in since June 13. Only hit .143 (3-for21), although did have five walks. Going into Monday, he was .273 through 79 games, with 14 HR and 39 RBI.
3. Russell Martin, C, Toronto Blue Jays (3) Hometown: Montreal. Recap: Hit 12th HR, drove in pair and scored three, but average was .111 (2-for-18). Season mark was .256 starting Monday; was hitting .285 on June 14.Through 71 games, he had 39 RBI.
4. John Axford, RHP, Colorado Rockies (4) Hometown: Port Dover, Ont. Recap: Spent part of week on seven-day family emergency list. Returned for two appearances, including 14th save, although he did give up two hits in that inning. In first 26 games, he was 1-1, with 2.28 ERA.
5. Jamie Romak, 3B, Reno Aces (Diamondbacks Triple A) (5) Hometown: London, Ont. Recap: His .423 (11-for-26) week featured 5 HR, 11 RBI and 7 runs. Started Monday at .304, with 16 HR and 63 RBI in 79 games. Tied for second in Pacific Coast in HRs, tied for third in RBI to start this week.
6. Jeff Francis, LHP, Buffalo Bisons (Blue Jays Triple A) (6) Hometown: North Delta. Recap: Struck out 10 in six innings to record a win in his lone start of the week. Walked none. Gave up two earned runs on six hits. In first 11 games with Buffalo, he’s 4-0, with 1.88 ERA.
7. Dalton Pompey, OF, New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays Double A) (7) Hometown: Mississauga, Ont. Recap: Had a couple of long nights with extra-inning games, but still hit .412 (14-for34), with one HR, 5 RBI and 4 runs. Through 24 games with Fisher Cats, he’s at .369, with six HR, 19 RBI and 22 runs.
8. Adam Loewen, LHP, Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Phillies Triple A) (8) Hometown: Surrey. Recap: Four scoreless outings, giving him 10 straight. Two saves, upping him to three on year. Six innings, one hit, nine strikeouts, no walks. Started Monday 1-2, with 2.05 ERA, in 20 IronPigs games.
9. Shane Dawson, LHP, Lansing Lugnuts (Blue Jays Single A) (9) Hometown: Drayton Valley, Alta. Recap: Improved to 11-4 on campaign after giving up three earned runs on eight hits over seven innings in lone start. Struck out four, walked two. Started Monday with 3.05 ERA in 16 games.
10. Nick Pivetta, RHP, Potomac Nationals (Nationals Single A) (NR) Hometown: Victoria. Recap: Recorded no-decision and win. Was perfect going into seventh in that one. Finished with one earned run on two hits over seven. Struck out nine, walked none. Through 15 games, he was 7-4 with 2.29 ERA.
