Teibert, Froese on Homegrown team
Russell Teibert and Kianz Froese are Major League Soccer all-stars … of a sort. The league announced Monday the two Vancouver midfielders will play in the MLS Homegrown Game versus Mexico City’s Club América U-20 on July 28. The actual All-Star Game versus Tottenham Hotspur, featuring Caps goalie David Ousted, goes a day later. Both matches are in Colorado.
It’s the second year for the Homegrown Game and the second selection for Teibert. Both the 22-year-old Teibert and the 19-year-old Froese signed on with the Whitecaps Residency program as teenagers.
Anthony Jackson-Hamel (Montreal Impact) and Jay Chapman (Toronto FC) are the other Canadians named to the squad, which will be coached by the recently retired Landon Donovan.
