WHO WENT WHERE IN SENS-LEAFS MEGADEAL

- — Bruce Garrioch

Ottawa received:

Dion Phaneuf, 30, D: He’s the centrepiece of the deal. Being brought in to stabilize the club’s struggling defence. He’ll get to play big minutes and will take some of the pressure of captain Erik Karlsson.

Matt Frattin, 28, F: He’ll report to the club’s AHL affiliate in Binghamton but he has NHL experience. He’ll have a good chance to be a call-up if the club runs into injury issues or if he’s dominating at the AHL level.

Casey Bailey, 24, F: Signed as a free agent out of Penn State by the Leafs, he’s considered a power forward-type by the Senators. He’s had an average year with the Marlies and he’ll have to prove he deserves a contract next season.

Ryan Rupert, 21, F: He’s got skills and was a top player with the OHL’s London Knights. He’s had a decent year with the Marlies. The Senators want to see if he can be a dominant minor-league player to get a chance in the NHL.

Cody Donaghey, 19, D: The Leafs signed him as a junior free agent and he’s currently with Moncton in the QMJHL. He’s expected to play with Ottawa’s minor-league team in Binghamton next year.

Toronto received:

Jared Cowen, 25, D: Making $4.5 million through next season, he was a healthy scratch and never lived up to expectations. Struggled defensively to get the job done. He’s a candidate for a buyout at the end of the season.

Colin Greening, 29, F: Has been with Ottawa’s AHL team in Binghamton all season and doesn’t have much of a future in Toronto. Has a $2.65-million cap hit and will likely be bought out at the end of the season.

Milan Michalek, 31, LW: Is the key to the deal for the Leafs. He has a year left at $4.5 million and will be expected to help the young players there. A strong veteran, he was a reliable player for the Senators. Out with a broken finger.

Tobias Lindberg, 20, F: A fourthround pick of the Senators in 2013, he played for Leafs assistant D.J. Smith in Oshawa last year and won the Memorial Cup. He’s got good skills and has a really good chance to become a pro.

Second-round pick in 2017
