Tiger-Cats re-sign Fantuz

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats re-signed veteran Canadian slotback Andy Fantuz and added free agent Chad Owens on Thursday.

Fantuz, 32, of Chatham, Ont., had 42 receptions for 432 yards and two TDs in nine games last season. He also started Hamilton’s two playoff games, registering eight catches for 88 yards.

Owens, known as the Flyin’ Hawaiian, spent the last six seasons with the Toronto Argonauts.

Owens, 33, is a four-time CFL all-star who in 2010 was named the league’s top special-teams performer before being named its outstanding player in 2012. Fantuz was the top Canadian in 2010.
