Snowmobiler killed near Pemberton
A man from the Seattle area died near Pemberton on the weekend.
The 53-year-old was part of a group of 10 from Washington state snowmobiling on the Appa Glacier on the Pemberton Icecap Saturday morning when he disappeared into a crevasse, Whistler RCMP Staff Sgt. Steven LeClair said.
The group used a flare to signal a passing helicopter, which stopped to help. The heli-ski guide rappelled 30 metres into the crevasse and found the man had died from the fall, LeClair said.
Police, search-and-rescue volunteers and the coroner attended the scene and the investigation is continuing, he said.
