Mother wants answers on missing Merritt man

2013 DISAPPEARANCE: His marriage was over and he was fired from his job when he vanished

After nearly two-and-a-half years, Elizabeth Faber still has no idea what has become of her son, Dean Kelly Morrison.

On Oct, 22, 2013, Morrison, 44, suddenly vanished after being fired from his job at the Stump Lake Ranch near Kamloops along Highway 5A.

His vehicle was left at the ranch, and his personal effects were still in the trailer he kept at the sprawling property where he worked as a painter.

His wallet was left behind, and his mother said his bank account was not touched following his mysterious disappearance.

Numerous in-depth searches were conducted by both the RCMP and family and friends, but there has been nothing.

Faber does not think her son committed suicide and if something happened to him, she feels his body would have turned up.

Next month, with the help of Pattison Outdoor Advertising, a fullsized billboard ad will be placed along the highway near where Morrison was last seen.

It gives Faber some solace that with further publicity, someone, somewhere, may be able to shed light on what happened to her beloved son.

“He was a very good son,” Faber said Sunday of Morrison, who had three children she said meant everything to him. “He loved his kids totally.”

Like any missing persons file, police pursue the case only so far.

Faber wonders what was going through Dean’s mind at the time he went missing, as he was in the throes of a difficult breakup with his wife. She notes he was not a drug user and did not have a criminal background or any history of mental illness or suicidal tendencies.

“I want to know what happened to him,” she said. “I have never stopped looking.”

Her son has been put on the RCMP’s national missing persons’ list. But Faber feels more should have been done.

Faber even consulted three psychics, and she said they all mentioned water in their analyses.

“There is a lot of water in the area and the police said they couldn’t afford to search the lake without some evidence,” Faber said.

She remembers her son as someone who was always willing to help others and was active in politics and social causes.

Even while travelling overseas, he would always stay in touch.

“He kept in touch and would call me very two weeks,” she said. “He was a good person.”

Merritt resident Timothy Waters has been helping Faber and set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for a private investigator.

“Something has gone wrong,” Waters said. “He was fired from his job and then two hours later he was gone. Dean was a good, hard-working guy and he would not have left his kids.”

“He was an average working guy with no links to the criminal or shady side of life,” he said. “I think it is something sinister.”
