Shows help create ‘dream spaces’
Those planning a home renovation may want to take in the Greater Vancouver Home Builders’ Association’s Home Reno Shows, taking place the first two Saturdays in April.
The events, which are offered free of charge, will be presented from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at VanDusen Botanical Garden, and on April 9 at The View on Lonsdale in North Vancouver.
“The GVHBA Home Reno Shows connect homeowners with the knowledge they need to confidently renovate their homes into their dream spaces,” says a prepared release.
Both shows will have an “Ask-a-Pro Expo” area, where consumers will be able to consult local contractors, designers and product and service suppliers. Seminars, scheduled throughout the day, will address a number of topics, including kitchen trends, smallspace design and outdoor living spaces.
“It is important to hire renovation professionals to transform your largest financial investment into the home you will enjoy for many years to come,” association CEO Bob de Wit says in the release. “Why would you risk your home to an amateur to do the work in order to get the cheapest price, or attempt a DIY? There is a reason why there are so many TV shows on DIY disasters.”
The first 100 people to attend the Vancouver show will receive a complimentary ticket to the VanDusen Botanical Garden.
