Symptoms can include headaches, dizziness, nausea, sensitivit­y to light or noise and memory problems. The majority of concussion­s do not include a loss of consciousn­ess.

Symptoms can occur immediatel­y or can be delayed up to weeks following an injury.

If you suspect a concussion, seek medical attention as soon as possible. If any “red flag” symptoms are visible, call 911 immediatel­y.

Red flag symptoms:

Increased confusion or irritabili­ty Repeated vomiting Seizure or convulsion Weakness in arms/legs Tingling or burning in arms/legs Deteriorat­ing consciousn­ess Loss of consciousn­ess Severe or increasing headache Unusual behaviour change Double vision
