Jets waive Pavelec

The Winnipeg Jets placed veteran goalie Ondrej Pavelec on waivers with the intent on sending him to the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League. Pavelec enters the final year of a five-year deal set to pay him US$4.75 million this season, with a cap hit of $3.9 million. The native of Kladno, Czech Republic, made 33 appearances with the Jets last season, posting a 13-13-3 record with a 2.78 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage. The Jets will go with the young tandem of Connor Hellebuyck and Michael Hutchinson.
