Abdul, Ryder head up We Day 2016 lineup

Some big names are coming to Vancouver for We Day.

Paula Abdul and Serena Ryder are among a star-studded cast of performers scheduled to perform at the We Day celebratio­n at Rogers Arena on Nov. 3.

The motivation­al day will also see Margaret Trudeau and George Takei speak to the crowd. Award-winning actor Jacob Tremblay and singer-songwriter Tyler Shaw are on the list of performers.

More than 20,000 students are expected to participat­e.

Last year more than 920 schools across B.C. participat­ed in We Day. Those students accounted for 750,000 hours of volunteeri­ng time and are responsibl­e for raising more than $2 million in support of various causes, including the Fort McMurray, Alta., wildfire relief and the welcoming of Syrian refugees into B.C.

Other performers for We Day are Ta’Kaiya Blaney, Olivia Holt and the musical duo of Nico & Vinz.

Across Canada, some 200,000 students will participat­e.
