Foolproof makeup plan for the holidays

Professional stylist gives step-by-step instructions to giving yourself that makeover you always wanted

The holiday season is fast approaching and so are the office parties. Here’s an easy and foolproof makeup look that plays double duty and will leave a lasting impression.

Face: Start by evening out the complexion with a lightweight primer and medium coverage foundation. To define your bone structure, contour the face with a matte bronzer, then highlight the high cheek bones to create a soft glow. Finally, lightly sweep a hint of rosy-pink blush onto the apples of the cheeks for a healthy pop of colour.

Eyes: Metallic eyeshadows are huge this season and look gorgeous with both a neutral and bold lip colour. I used a cream eyeshadow stick on my entire eyelid, in an amethyst shade, and blended it into the crease of the eyes using my finger. I then layered a metallic eyeshadow, in a similar shade, to adhere to the cream shadow and blended it into the crease. For a more dramatic effect, I applied a taupe-brown waterproof eye pencil into the waterline. This is a great way of amplifying the eyes for both day and evening. I then curled the eyelashes and coated them with black mascara.

Brows: Brows are a great way of defining the eyes without adding more eye makeup. For a soft finish, I used a brow pen to fill in any sparse areas. For a natural finish, opt for a colour that is the same shade or one shade lighter than your natural brow colour.

Lips: To complete the look, opt for a deep berry or red lip. If bold lips are intimidating, try a sheer lip gloss or lip tint in a light berry tone.
