Tauck’s guests come to expect the uncommon
Meeting Churchill’s granddaughter an exclusive part of the cruise experience
When I travel, I like to have as many unique, authentic experiences as possible, and one company — American-based luxury tour and river cruise operator Tauck — never lets me down in that respect. The company is known for its uncommon experiences that allow access to some of the world’s most important cultural and historical sites in ways that other tour and river cruise lines simply cannot compete with.
Now, the company has announced that it is expanding its relationship with Celia Sandys, granddaughter of Sir Winston Churchill, in order to provide its guests with even more exclusive experiences.
“My grandfather famously said; ‘I am a man of simple tastes, easily satisfied by the best,’” noted Sandys, “and I too appreciate the commitment to excellence that’s required to be ‘the best.’ I see that commitment in Tauck,” Sandys continued, “I’ve truly enjoyed sharing stories of my grandfather with Tauck’s guests, and I’m excited to be working even more closely with the company going forward.”
Tauck CEO Dan Mahar stated the appreciation is mutual. “Celia is a captivating speaker, and her warm, insightful and very personal recollections of her grandfather truly touch our guests,” he said. “To hear Celia speak in London, and to experience a very real connection with one of Britain’s most iconic leaders is incredibly powerful. It’s exactly the kind of authentic, memorable, ‘insider’ experience we strive to deliver throughout the world.”
In addition to being Churchill’s granddaughter and biographer, Sandys will also act as Tauck’s brand ambassador at events throughout the U.K. and North America.
If you’re a fan of river cruising, there’s plenty of good news: Sandys speaks to guests travelling on the company’s 14-day “Cruising the Seine Plus Versailles, Paris and London” river cruise, as well as the all-encompassing 23-day, “Belle Epoch: London to Monte Carlo” tour. Tauck also has Sandys slated to speak on select “A Week in London and Paris” river cruise tour departures.
Personally, I spent a memorable evening touring Prague’s Lobkowicz Palace, greeted by William Lobkowicz himself, in an engagement that included a private after-hours tour and a multi-course, gourmet dinner within the palace. It’s not something you could even buy your way into, and it’s just one of many things that makes a Tauck river cruise so special.
