Yes To Tomatoes Detoxifying Charcoal collection

- Aleesha Harris

What it is: A skin-care collection that merges two unlikely ingredients — tomatoes and charcoal — for skin-boosting benefits.

The launch includes a mud mask, cleanser and facial wipes, each boasting at least 95-per-cent natural ingredients such as aloe, watermelon, pumpkin and camomile.

The organic tomato extract is “rich in lycopene, a potent antioxidant that helps protect skin from environmental agents that can contribute to clogged pores and breakouts,” while the charcoal is “derived from bamboo and containing natural minerals such as calcium, kalium, irons and magnesium” to draw out impurities and toxins from the skin.

The trio of products are also free of parabens and are made with recyclable materials. The collection is formulated specifically to target acne-prone skin.

What we say: This collection is a nice alternative to less-natural skin-care options that target acne. Our tester, who has oily-combination skin and is prone to breakouts, was pleased with the overall performance of the trio of products.

While our tester wasn’t crazy about the scent of the line, she was impressed by the cleanser. The non-foaming gel left skin feeling clean and refreshed — without feeling stripped. Meanwhile the wipes are the perfect addition to a travel or gym bag — especially thanks to the Witch Hazel ingredient, which can be used to remove post-workout sweat if you don’t have time for a shower.

The soft exfoliating power of the line provides a welcome mild resurfacing for winter-weary skin. After using the line, skin felt less oily and more “balanced,” with a hint of reduced skin redness as well. Where to get it: Shoppers Drug Mart What it will cost you: $9.99 to $16.99
