Osoyoos Larose 2005 Le Grand Vin ($45.99, #129999)
From Day 1, Le Grand Vin from Osoyoos Larose has been marked as a touchpoint for long-lived British Columbian wines. It is a Bordeaux blend made for the cellar and while the 2005 I recently cracked showed its age, it provided a tasty excuse for discourse. Pouring a dull garnet with brick edges in the glass, it offered fully engrossing notes of flowers, dark fruit and wafts of vanilla. Following a soft entry, this medium-bodied red ended with finesse and cedar. It’s no longer a bold, whipper snapper red, but it holds its own on the elegance front.
Bottom line: B+, Languid luxuriousness
