BITE Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick

- Aleesha Harris

What is it : A collection of liquid lipsticks from the Canadian beauty brand BITE Beauty.

These highly pigmented lip colours feature a nourishing formula of food-grade ingredients such as Monoi butter and coconut oil to leave lips full of colour — and moisture.

The collection of 12 food-inspired shades — names range from Braised, a pinky-red hue, to Whip, a buttery peach — provide full-coverage creamy colour without any “harmful ingredients” such as parabens, sulfates, petrochemicals or phthalates.

The liquid lip colours apply like a gloss, thanks to the doe-foot applicator, but wear like lipsticks.

What we say: Liquid lipsticks have been having a major moment thanks to makeup guru Kylie Jenner.

But while most people can agree the liquid formats provide a bold wash of colour, not everyone is a fan of the propensity these potions have to drying out pouts.

Thankfully, this BITE release provides all the benefits of a liquid lipstick — without the Sahara Desert-feel dryness.

Our tester was impressed with how smooth these colours apply to bare lips.

With a few sweeps of the wand, lips are given a pigmented wash of colour that doesn’t slip or smear around.

While the moodier hues such as Marsala (a deep-wine hue) and Infuse (a brown-tinged colour) are sure to become fast favourites in the fall, we were partial to the cheerier colours such as Eclair, Chutney, Candied and Flambé (think: soft pinks, peaches and reds).

While these new lip colours aren’t quite as long-wearing as the solid Amuse Bouche collection from the brand, these lightweight lipsticks are sure to win over even the most skeptical of liquid-lipstick wearer. Where to get it: Sephora; bitebeauty.com What it will cost you: $28 each
