Million-dollar house for sale gets dolled up ... Texas style

-

A Houston-area artist has gone to great lengths to doll up her Texas residence before putting it on the market.

Dolled with mannequins aplenty, that is.

Before entering the 7,406-square-foot, two-storey brick house in Richmond, Texas, potential homebuyers are greeted with a camouflaged figure at the gates, according to Zillow’s online listing.

Once inside, you’ll find more mannequins and dolls galore as part of the staging: a “cowboy” sitting at a kitchen bar setup, a doll dancing on the ceiling of the library and a child mannequin riding a tricycle — also on the ceiling — in the entertainment room.

Heading upstairs to the master bedroom, visitors will notice several live-in guests: from a tie-clad mannequin manoeuvring a remote control to a second figure viewing a blank TV screen.

Even in the dining room, amid the dried plants and bunny rabbit hanging out near the ceiling, there stands a mannequin holding a fake fish.

Listing agent Diana Power isn’t revealing too much about the owner’s background, telling Zillow that, “all I can say is, it’s for sale and my client is an artist … she’s got a clothing line and she’s got a jewelry line … she’s pretty famous.” She adds that her phone hasn’t stop ringing since the home was first listed.

Even with the mannequin-themed staging, the five-bedroom, six-bathroom house is going for US$1.275 million. It also comes with a pool, a four-car garage and a cosy creekside location.
