Sea to Sky Gondola offers nature walks and hikes galore with jaw-dropping viewpoints

British Columbia is arguably the best Canadian province in which to experience memorable nature walks along forested trails, and amazing hiking in pristine backcountry. Those looking to find it all in one spectacular place—and conveniently close to the Lower Mainland—only need look up… look waaay up at the Sea to Sky Gondola.

Located just forty-five minutes from Vancouver along the scenic Sea to Sky Highway, the venue features a ten-minute gondola ride to the Summit Lodge overlooking Howe Sound and the Coast Mountain Range, some 885 metres above sea level. There, you’ll have access to a wide variety of outdoor adventures, including interpretive loop walking trails with jaw-dropping viewing platforms, the spectacular Sky Pilot Suspension Bridge, numerous hiking trails, rock climbing, access trails to backcountry routes, and much more.

“The Sea to Sky Gondola provides access to a great variety of hikes and walks,” says Christy Allan, Director of Sales & Marketing. “Often, families will go up and a few people will walk the Panorama Trail, while others will opt for a more moderate hike, like Sparky’s Spin. Everyone ends up back at the Summit Lodge for a chance to have a beer and a bite to eat on the patio overlooking Howe Sound.”

While Allan prefers the challenge and workout of the Sea to Summit Trail, she said there’s a walk or hike for every fitness level, and every member of the family.

“At the summit, we consider both the Panorama Trail (1.6 kilometres) and the Spirit Trail (400 metres) nice walks. The trails are crushed gravel and are stroller friendly,” she says. “Two moderate hikes are Wonderland Lake Loop and Sparky’s Spin. The Sea to Summit Ascent Trail from the base to the Summit is our most popular hike. Al’s Habrich Ridge hike offers incredible views. For the kids, Alpine Alley offers an interactive walk that teaches about local wildlife and the ten essential items to bring on a hike. The trail can be self-guided or there is a daily tour.”

So, no matter what type of walk or hike you seek, the Sea to Sky Gondola is your gateway to the perfect adventure.
