Smallville star linked to cult that brands women
U.K. tabloids including The Daily Mail and The Sun allege former Smallville actress Allison Mack is “second in command” of a secret sex cult at the heart of self-help group NXIVM. Mack, 35, played Clark Kent’s friend Chloe Sullivan on the 2001-2010 TV series Smallville.
Last month, The New York Times broke the story of a sorority that brands women, puts them on starvation diets and beats them if they don’t recruit enough “slaves.”
The group, called DOS, is reportedly a society for the highest-ranking female members within NXIVM, including Mack. A spokesman for Mack said she is not speaking to the media.
Louis C.K. cancels new film launch
Louis C.K. has cancelled the New York premiere of his upcoming film, I Love You, Daddy.
Cinema representatives cited “unexpected circumstances.” The New York Times has published an article by investigative reporter Jodi Kanter, who co-wrote the Oct. 5 Harvey Weinstein story, that has five women accusing the comic of sexual misconduct.
Plummer replaces Spacey in role
In a wholly unprecedented move, Christopher Plummer will replace Kevin Spacey in Ridley Scott’s already finished film All the Money in the World just over one month before it’s due to hit theatres. People close to the production say Plummer will begin reshoots immediately in the role of J. Paul Getty. Scott is intending to keep the film’s Dec. 22 release date. Plummer, 87, had been Scott’s first choice for the role, until the studio pressured him into casting Spacey — who before recent allegations of sexual assault was seen as a bigger, more bankable star.
