A shot of tequila on The Rock

-

Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson is planning to launch his own brand of tequila.

Officials from the wrestler-turned-actor’s company filed documents with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in January, attempting to register the brand name Mana for use selling the Mexican spirit. The application is signed by his ex-wife and current manager, Dany Garcia.

Mana is a Polynesian term for “spirit,” or a supernatural force that confers power and authority and is close to Johnson’s heart due to his Samoan heritage.

In a post on Instagram last year, the 45-year-old action star used the word to describe the impressive bull tattoo he sports on his arm.

“The core and anchor of this image is in the eye,” he captioned a picture of his body art. “Look closely and you’ll find the life, energy, power and you’ll feel the MANA (spirit). The eye tells the story of a disruptive positive energy always ready to dent the universe.”

He ended the post with the hashtags, “#TheMana” and “#NowLetsBreakOutTheTequila.”

Johnson has professed his love of tequila on several occasions, and recently caused a stir by pledging to bring a bottle to Saudi Arabia, where alcohol is banned and those found with booze can be flogged.

“I look forward to my first visit soon to Saudi Arabia,” he wrote on Facebook after dining with the Muslim nation’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Los Angeles.

“I’ll be sure to bring my finest tequila to share with his Royal Highness and family.”
