Horgan, NDP won’t win re-election if they kill good jobs

-

It is time for the Horgan government to do what is necessary for the benefit of the people of B.C. and Canada and approve completion of the Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion.

I do not care for Attorney-General David Eby’s views about suing Alberta or asking the court about federal jurisdiction. The action is a complete waste of time and this stupid spat will cost taxpayers millions of dollars.

I believe that the pipeline has been (and will be) built to the highest design and environmental standards that we have ensconced in our legislation already, so what is the problem? If we do not build this, we should never build anything.

The NDP should stop playing political games and get on with giving younger people the chance of improving themselves with good jobs so that they can afford to live in our increasingly competitive society. If Horgan hurts our younger citizens, he will have no hope of re-election. Ivan Scott, Surrey

Alberta shipping will rise

I wonder if anyone in Alberta has thought about the price increases they will face when shipping companies in B.C. adjust pricing to reflect higher fuel prices?

Better ban cruise ships

Albertans are getting fed up with Premier John Horgan’s hypocrisy in trying to kill the Kinder Morgan pipeline expansion.

The Port of Vancouver is going to welcome 241 cruise ships this season, beginning last week. Now, 241 ships each burning 80,000 gallons of heavy bunker oil a day seems to me a bigger threat to the harbour than the pipeline. Those cruise ships aren’t double-hulled like oil tankers, and just think of a harbour full of bunker fuel. Clearly, Horgan should stop cruise ships from entering Vancouver if he is serious in his threats and court challenges against the pipeline.

B.C. will go broke

MPs Elizabeth May and Kennedy Stewart and other arrested protesters must be made examples of immediately in a criminal court. Our courts will give them a fair trial. Also, the NDP provincial government should stand up to the three Green MLAs, possibly causing another provincial election.

Green party leader Andrew Weaver’s pipeline stance is one serious example of what he and his party have in store for us, the majority, who did not vote for him. Weaver knows that he only has one chance for the Greens to have ongoing power — by getting rid of the first-past-the-post voting system.

B.C. is a multi-billion-dollar enterprise, but the lack of competent leadership could send us into bankruptcy faster than you think. Bill Davis, New Westminster

La La Land

Premier John Horgan is opposed to the Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion, supported by B.C. Green party leader Andrew Weaver, who would like to see the pipeline closed, while Attorney-General David Eby is threatening to sue Alberta for threatening to do exactly what Horgan and Weaver want. Only in British Columbia!

Canucks fail to change

Looks like the Calgary Flames are trying to improve, as they missed the playoffs so they are cleaning the management team, looking to get better next year.

The Canucks, meanwhile, missed the playoffs again. Heck, even the expansion Las Vegas team is light years better than the Canucks. Our team management remains the same and, quite frankly, the outlook for next year is the same as this past year, but I guess as long as the owner of the team is making money they really don’t care.
