Looking ahead to the entry draft for fans of Canadian teams

-

A month more of sleeps.

Now that the Winnipeg Jets have been eliminated, all that’s left for fans of Canadian teams to look forward to this season is the annual entry draft, which will be held June 22-23 in Dallas.

Then they can sit back and relax until July 1 and the opening of the free-agent market.

Both the Jets and the Calgary Flames have traded away their first-round pick — and the Ottawa Senators have an extra from a previous deal — which means Canadian teams will have six opening-round picks: 3rd, 4th, 7th, 10, 22nd and 25th overall.

Below, you’ll see the active players who were selected in those spots, and by which teams.

Pretty sure the Senators would

like another Claude Giroux almost as much as the Maple Leafs would like another David Pastrnak with the 22nd and 25th picks, don’t you think?
