Jonathan Cote will seek a second term as mayor of New Westminster
Jonathan Cote has announced that he wants to be New Westminster’s mayor again.
Cote was first elected as the Royal City’s mayor in 2014 after serving three terms as a city councillor.
“It has been an honour to serve as mayor of New Westminster for the past four years. Our city is going through an exciting time and I am extremely proud of what we have been able to accomplish. I look forward to the opportunity to continue working on building a vibrant and livable community,” Cote said in a media release.
Cote says he has been focused on transportation, affordable housing and urban planning.
“New Westminster has become a leader in our region. We have developed strong policy on critical issues such as housing, community planning and economic development.”
He also says he has the support of all members of New Westminster’s city council.
“Jonathan has demonstrated solid leadership in his first term as mayor of New Westminster. He has a deep understanding of the issues facing our city and has helped our community become one of the most forward thinking cities in our region. He is thoughtful, collaborative and brings out the best in members of city council. I am proud to support Jonathan in his re-election campaign,” said Coun. Bill Harper.
