Suspect arrested after man, dog stabbed
A man has been arrested following two separate assaults in Kitsilano on Sunday morning.
Around 7:15 a.m., Vancouver police responded to a stabbing near West 13th Avenue and Arbutus Street. A man in his late 20s was found seriously injured and was taken to hospital. Minutes later, police received another call about a man with a knife who was bleeding from his chest while walking near Yew Street and West 4th Avenue. The suspect allegedly approached a woman with a dog and stabbed the animal; the woman was not hurt.
When officers arrived, the suspect fought with police. Officers subdued the man and took him to hospital to treat the stab wound to his chest.
The dog was also taken to an emergency animal hospital for treatment. Two officers suffered minor injuries during the struggle. Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to contact Vancouver police at 604-717-2541 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
