Sus­pect ar­rested af­ter man, dog stabbed

A man has been ar­rested fol­low­ing two sep­a­rate as­saults in Kit­si­lano on Sun­day morn­ing.

Around 7:15 a.m., Van­cou­ver po­lice re­sponded to a stab­bing near West 13th Av­enue and Ar­bu­tus Street. A man in his late 20s was found se­ri­ously in­jured and was taken to hos­pi­tal. Min­utes later, po­lice re­ceived an­other call about a man with a knife who was bleed­ing from his chest while walk­ing near Yew Street and West 4th Av­enue. The sus­pect al­legedly ap­proached a woman with a dog and stabbed the an­i­mal; the woman was not hurt.

When of­fi­cers ar­rived, the sus­pect fought with po­lice. Of­fi­cers sub­dued the man and took him to hos­pi­tal to treat the stab wound to his chest.

The dog was also taken to an emer­gency an­i­mal hos­pi­tal for treat­ment. Two of­fi­cers suf­fered mi­nor in­juries dur­ing the strug­gle. Any­one with in­for­ma­tion about the in­ci­dents is asked to con­tact Van­cou­ver po­lice at 604-717-2541 or Crime Stop­pers at 1-800-222-8477.
