Woman, 83, dies af­ter be­ing hit by pickup truck in east Van­cou­ver

An 83-year-old Van­cou­ver woman was walk­ing across East 30th Av­enue near the east side of Main Street on Wed­nes­day morn­ing when she was hit by a black pickup truck mak­ing a right turn at a low speed.

Paramedics took her to hospi­tal where she died a short time later. This is the city’s sixth pedes­trian fa­tal­ity of 2018, ac­cord­ing to a state­ment by the Van­cou­ver po­lice.

The driver of the truck is co-op­er­at­ing with in­ves­ti­ga­tors.

The VPD’s col­li­sion in­ves­ti­ga­tion unit is ask­ing any­one with dash-cam footage, or who may have been in the area on Wed­nes­day be­tween 11:20 and 11:40 a.m., to con­tact them at 604-717-3012.
