McLaren has released its first teaser sketch of the brand new Senna GTR and confirms that dynamic testing of the prototype will begin this month.

The track-spec GTR Senna, named in honour of the threetime Formula One World Champion Ayrton Senna, will use the same four-litre twinturbo V-8 as the road-going hypercar.

Torque remains unchanged at 590 pound-feet (800 Nm), but power has been given a kick up to 814 horsepower, some 25 hp more than the road car.

The GTR model features an aggressive new front splitter, a repositioned and enormous rear spoiler, and what appears to be a wider front track with new end plates.

Another new addition is the race-bred suspension, developed using intel gleaned from McLaren’s GT3 racing program. These new double wishbones are likely to be connected to centre-locking wheels clad with bespoke Pirelli slicks.

Neither performance figures nor the vehicle weight have been announced, but expect the GTR to be lighter than the already welterweight, 1,198-kg road car.

Unsurprisingly, the Senna GTR will be super-exclusive, with just 75 units confirmed. And yes, each of them have already been sold for an eye-watering £1.1 million (around $1.9 million Cdn).
