‘Overspilling’ air traveller sparks suit
A man is suing British Airways claiming he suffered back injuries after cabin crew seated him next to a “300-pound” passenger who was “overspilling” onto his seat.
Stephen Prosser told a court in Wales that the six-foot-four man was built like New Zealand rugby giant Jonah Lomu.
Prosser “estimated” the passenger’s weight at 310 pounds and said sitting next to him for the 12-hour flight between Bangkok and London in 2016 left him with “continual spasms” in his back. Prosser said his spine was twisted into a “painful, unnatural and damaging position” as he had to “wedge” his buttocks between the armrests during the flight.
Prosser is suing for personal injuries and loss of earnings.
