Six people were arrested and a number of guns and drugs were seized during a recent bust in Surrey, police announced Monday.

On Nov. 22, community response units with Surrey RCMP executed a search warrant on a home in the 13200block of Old Yale Road.

Inside, police found a number of rifles and guns, along with various quantities of drugs, including a SKS-style rifle, a Ruger pistol, four airsoft pistols, an improvised pipe gun, a Taser-flashlight combination and numerous edged weapons and batons.

Officers also seized about 43 doses of suspected heroin, 44 doses of suspected methamphetamine and 29 doses of suspected crack cocaine.

Six individuals were arrested during the search. Two were known to police and have been linked to the local drug trade, and were arrested on outstanding warrants for unrelated matters.

“The RCMP’s community response units are based in all five districts across the city of Surrey and provides both overt and covert policing operations to address crime, nuisance activity, and neighbourhood safety through proactive policing strategies,” said Staff Sgt. Joe Johal. “Our members were following up on information provided by the community, which provided the necessary evidence to ascertain the search warrant.”

No one has been charged at this time, however, investigators continue to review the seized items and evidence, and charges are possible in future. Anyone with information that may help this investigation, or who witnesses suspicious activity, is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604599-0502.
