Mendes feels need to prove he’s not gay

Stone magazine expose, insisting editors focused too much on his previous romance with Hailey Baldwin.

The GTA singer made headlines with his cover interview on Monday morning as he chatted about his fling with model Baldwin, who is now engaged to Justin Bieber, and now he has taken to Twitter to set the record straight. He was particularly miffed about the way questions about his sexuality were handled. Mendes told the magazine, “In the back of my heart, I feel like I need to go be seen with someone — like a girl — in public, to prove to people that I’m not gay. Even though in my heart I know that it’s not a bad thing. There’s still a piece of me that thinks that. And I hate that side of me.”
