Police appeal to victims to come forward
Vancouver police are renewing an appeal for victims and witnesses to come forward in a sexual assault investigation dating back many years. A 46-year-old Prince George man was arrested in Vancouver last week and faces numerous charges in connection with sexual offences involving a young girl.
Kevin Alexander Roberts has been charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, sexual assault with a weapon, invitation to sexual touching, assault and assault causing bodily harm for offences allegedly committed in Vancouver and Prince George. Vancouver police Sgt. Jason Robillard says police believe there are additional survivors who would be between the ages of four and 18 at the time of the offences.
Roberts is a truck driver on routes throughout B.C. and Alberta. He also worked as a school bus driver in the Prince George area, as a mover and has a transient lifestyle, says the VPD.
Police say they can’t reveal the years in which the alleged offences occurred due to a publication ban, but did note that the investigation involves several offences over several years against one victim at this time. Robillard said that while they can’t provide a specific time frame, investigators are looking at 20 or more years.
The victim, now an adult, reported the crimes to Vancouver police.
Police have released Roberts’ mug shot in hopes that other victims will recognize him and come forward. Roberts also has a tattoo of a woman and a snake on his right upper arm.
Police have also learned that Roberts went by the nickname “Drifter.”
Anyone with more information is asked to call the VPD’s sex-crime unit at 604-717-0600 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
