Last day to drop off referendum ballots on electoral reform is today

- HARRISON MOONEY hmooney@postmedia.com

Friday is the last day to get in your electoral reform vote — and you’ll have to deliver it. It’s too late for the mail.

Less than half of eligible B.C. voters had returned their voting packages in the referendum on the day before the deadline. As of 8:20 a.m. on Dec. 6, 1,335,000 packages are estimated to have been

received by Elections B.C., reflecting approximately 40 per cent returned.

Elections B.C. must receive completed referendum voting packages by 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 7.

You can vote in the referendum if you are a Canadian citizen 18 or older as of Nov. 30, and a resident of B.C. for at least six months immediately before that date.

Voters can drop off their package in Burnaby, Surrey or Vancouver at a Referendum Service Office (not a Service B.C. Centre).

Vancouver locations with a 24-hour drop box are Chinatown Plaza and Oakridge Plaza. A complete list of provincial locations is available at the Elections B.C. website.
