Revlon shows off its PhotoReady Candid Collection

What it is: A makeup collection from Revlon that promises to provide skin-enhancing benefits including antioxidants, anti-blue light, and anti-pollution capabilities.

The collection includes three main products: PhotoReady Candid Foundation to give skin a “flawless natural finish;” PhotoReady Candid Antioxidant Concealer infused with caffeine for a “built in pick-me-up;” and PhotoReady Candid Anti-Pollution Setting Powder to give skin a “silky smooth” airbrushed effect.

There is also a new PhotoReady Rose Glow Hydrating and Illuminating Primer (water-based with botanical extracts to boost skin) that’s being marketed alongside the line.

The products in the lineup are free of parabens, phthalates, synthetic dyes and fragrances. What we say: This collection is pretty much made for #selfie taking.

Our tester was pleased with how the products performed — from application to all-day wear. The PhotoReady Rose Glow Hydrating and Illuminating Primer, applied over moisturizer, gave skin a nice smooth base for the first skin-perfecting product.

The foundation, which is available in 31 skin tone-matching shades, blended easily and reduced the appearance of skin imperfections, while also evening out the skin tone.

The concealer, which is available in 18 skin tone-matching shades, was a true treat, quickly masking under-eye bags and blemishes.

Applied with the sponge-tip applicator, our tester opted to smooth and blend out the creamy product with a synthetic brush and was impressed with how easy it was to use.

Lastly, the loose powder set the skin-smoothing products and helped skin remain mostly shine-free throughout the day.

While we’re unsure of the claims of protecting against environmental aggressors such as pollution and light, the ease of use and decent array of shades are sure to make this lineup of Revlon products a fast favourite with many.
