RCMP seize suspected meth during fraud probe
Two men were arrested and more than 500 doses of suspected meth were seized in Surrey during a recent fraud investigation.
Around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Surrey RCMP were called to a business in the 2300block of 160th Street in South Surrey for the report of a man in a local business trying to use a credit card that didn’t have his name on it.
Police who responded to the call found the suspect, a 30-something Langley man, seated in the passenger side of a car parked outside. He was arrested for breaching court-ordered conditions.
During a search, police also found in his possession drug paraphernalia, as well as an amount of drugs inside the car. A black tactical vest with a “police” patch and a bag of suspected methamphetamine containing about 548 doses were also seized.
While police were searching the vehicle, a second man, a 40-something Surrey resident, returned to the car and was also arrested.
“Particularly on the front line of policing, there are no routine calls,” said Insp. Kevin Beson with the Surrey RCMP. “Our officers encounter challenges and situations on a regular basis, that present an opportunity to make the city a safer place, like in this instance where the officers were able to remove potentially illicit drugs from the street.”
The first man remains in custody while the second has since been released. The investigation continues.
